Materi forum teacher ke 2 warming up activity

Assalamualaikum wr wrb/Good afternoon everybody.
            First of all, I would like to say thanks for chance that is given to me to be a moderator in this forum right now. Well, in this opportunity, I want to share about ‘warming up activities in the classroom’
Content
Allwright (1984) considers that:
 Warm up activities are designed to attract students' attention and also help them get ready for the lesson and review what they learned during the previous lesson.  It is usually about 5-10 minutes activity.  They are such as singing, telling riddle or anecdote, watching an inspiration video, fun games,
Now, I classify the level of students.
There are two categories. They are younger group and older group.
Younger group is for P1-P3 class:
·         Singing plus dancing
Here, teacher can find the appropriate move with the song.
·         Fun games
Matching picture by using flash cards
Let’s find me;
 Teacher draws the picture on the whiteboard.
Asking three students to circle and write the words that teacher said.
Teacher limits the time. (she can count back star from 5,4….slowly)
Guessing (the teacher spell the word in English by the wave speed)
Spelling (grouping the students into 2 teams, ask them to spell the word that the teacher said. One student must say one letter.)
    
Older group is for P4-P6 class:
Repetition activity:
It concerns to grammar especially about pronoun and tenses and listening comprehension.
Present tense
Example:
T: my name is ms solina. I get up at 10 o’clock every Sunday. How about you (say the student’s name)?
S: I am ms. Yuni. I get up at 6 o’clock every Sunday. She is ms solina.  She gets up at 10 o’clock every Sunday
Translation activity.
(Teacher says the sentence in Bahasa then asking the students to translate the sentence. The rule is one student only say one word)
Well, that’s the warming up activities which I have practiced in my class.
Anyway, if we apply the fun games, don’t forget to give a complimenting expression of each students’ condition whether they are success or aren’t.

Alright, that’s enough for our discussion today. I hope the discussion can enrich our creativity to teach so that our students feel happy and comfort to study English in our lovely course.
